Live Locally. . .
This month My Out & About dedicates our issue to Mother Nature.
As usual our terrific writers and supporters do not disappoint! We are fortunate to have writers like Dan Gordon, who intentionally located his Gordon Biersch Brewing company right here in San Jose. This month Dan’s column shares insight as to just how important voting with your consumption dollars can be for the environment. Debbie Lewis reveals Fabmo, an organization that collects designer materials, reinvents how they are delivered and spares area landfills. Pam Finch uncovers what terrific local groups and schools are doing to make sure our children are educated—not only about our local water, soil and air, but also about growing food locally. Our newest writer, Brenda Norrie, is a journalism student from SJSU, and she shows just how far we have come from the days when recycling was our greatest environmental effort.
This April issue brims with ideas to celebrate spring break, Easter, and Passover. We take you to farmers’ markets, mobile candy shops, wine, beer, music, and the Los Gatos – Saratoga Great Race, all in one place. Our calendars explode with gardening classes, spring wine walks, music events, new dining ideas, and all you can imagine to get Out & About to enjoy walks, runs, and rides that take you to wildflowers, song birds, and all the glorious green the rain finally brought to our area.
We continue to be amazed at the readers who reach out to us each month to tell us about their events, columns, and activities we helped them find and the businesses that stock our magazine, support a column, or to use their marketing dollars with us. That keeps us growing and allows us to be the only truly locally owned magazine, offering the largest monthly print calendar in Silicon Valley (printed on recycled paper). So, thank you, readers, keep thanking these businesses, keep sending in your ideas, and remember to always Live Locally!
